The 86th Infantry Division during World War I had a young lad named Fredric McLaughlin in the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion. It was called the "Blackhawk Division"
McLaughlin who was a Harvard University graduate inherited a booming Chicago coffee business from his father. This gave him the capital to purchase a franchise hockey team and give it the name of his choice. One year later that team would become one of the "Original Six" and go on to win 6 Stanley Cups (so far).
