"EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!”
Unfortunately those famous words were often uttered by homeless young boys trying to scrape together enough change for one square meal. Luckily, Harry E Burroughs established The Burroughs Newsboys Foundation at 10 Somerset St to give the boys life experiences and classes in music, art, government and health. He also started Agassiz Village, a camp where the boys could spend the summer learning a trade and of course playing sports. The Newsboys baseball team of 1930 was coached by none other than Joseph Lapidus.
