Fred Zollner's team put Fort Wayne, Indiana on the sporting map. They not only won games, they were leaders in softball for more than a decade and innovators on the basketball court. The Pistons' historic 19-18 win over the Lakers in 1950 led directly to the 24 second shot clock. They also paved the way to an expanded foul line and were the first sports team to travel to and from their games by air.
