Detroit YMCA

Detroit, MI 1922
Always a power house team, the Detroit YMCA Reds from the Adams Avenue Branch won state championships and the International and World YMCA Championships in 1922, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1931.

The 1925 cager team was home to a successful jump shooter named Joseph Jaglowitz who went on to form and coach his own professional team, the Jagloqicz “Aces”. The Aces became the home of several Detroit Lions football players and “Red” Altman the longest active semi-professional player from 1915 to 1940.

The 1927 Auto City “Y” team numbered among its victims some powerful college and Association teams and concluded the season in a blaze of glory by winning both the international and world YMCA championships.
